whY ppf?
The owner wanted to keep and preserve the condition of the car while being able to enjoy the driving experience in the coming years.
There is no other protection aside from PPF which can stop stone chips and road debris.
PPF is a highly glossy and clear Polyurethane film which allows the original colour of the PPF to remain while offering the same protection as a ‘screen protector’ for your mobile phone.
ceramic coating your ppf
Many PPF applicators choose to ignore the fact that there are immense benefits to applying a ceramic coating on top of the PPF.
A ceramic coating imparts its benefits to whatever surface its applied on, the main variable is the lifespan. Chrome and glass surfaces for example have a shorter lifespan then paintwork or plastics.
By coating your PPF, you will gain a higher gloss, a long lasting hydrophobic surface and also chemical & UV resistance that the film lacks while also having the strong physical protection of the PPF.
why coat the wheels?
The wheels are subject to the most hazardous environment on the vehicle. Being wet and heated constantly while also being covered with corrosive brake dust means that slowly the finish on your wheels will fade without a strong coating.
how to maintain PPF?
Because of the self-healing ability of the PPF, owners wont need to worry about swirl marks or fine marring when washing and maintaining there cars.
However, it is important to note that pressure washing too closely to the films edges may lift and cause water damage to film just like pressure washing too closely to a paint chip or the badges of any given vehicle.
The film is chemical resistant, which means any number of snow foam or washing products will be fine on the film.
How long does PPF take?
This particular job took 1 week to complete as there are many aggressive corners and edges that need to be tucked.
PPF is a wet installed product much like window tint, this means that once installed the film needs to dry and evaporate before finishing.
Most PPF jobs take a few days up to a week to complete depending how much of the car is wrapped.
